Ole Hanson Beach Club Wedding in San Clemente

I’m so so excited to share this Ole Hanson Beach Club wedding with you!! Sarah and Skylar were such a dream to work with, and I’m so happy that they chose me to capture their big day. Once you hear their story and see their gorgeous photos, you’ll be ready to plan an Ole Hanson Beach Club wedding yourself!

Sarah & Skylar’s Ole Hanson Beach Club Wedding

The entire vibe of Sarah and Skylar’s wedding was perfection. First of all, Ole Hanson Beach Club is one of my all-time favorite wedding venues in California. So of course, I was thrilled to be back here! If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I’m absolutely in love with the beach. I was born and raised on the coast of California, so being able to capture love at one of my favorite places is what makes this my dream job! S & S made the beach a huge focus of their wedding day, making my time with them that much more fun!!

Their young, vibrant love mixed with my happy & chill personality resulted in all of us getting along so well during the days & months leading up to their big day. I’m always so excited when I get along really well with my clients, as I strive to become so much more than just your wedding photographer. My hope is that we become friends, too! With Sarah & Skylar, I’ve actually shot their couples photos, surprise proposal, engagement photos, and now their Ole Hanson Beach Club wedding. They’re pretty much stuck with me for life now!!

Sarah & Skylar’s backstory

I’m telling you, the way they met was just too perfect. 3 years ago, both of them were surfing in San Clemente, and Skylar’s eyes were immediately set on Sarah. Once they were out of the water, he went up to her and asked for her number! The rest is practically history. They did long distance for about a year before Sarah finally moved from Arizona to California. What a coincidence that she just happened to be vacationing in San Clemente, AND had a passion for surfing?? It was like they were made for each other!!

Another thing I adore about S & S is their selflessness and faith. They are both youth group leaders for Young Life in Carlsbad and have made God the center of their relationship. As someone who strives to do the same, I love connecting with like-minded couples whose values align with mine!! They also made their faith a very important aspect of their wedding day, which I loved. I’m telling you – everything about them and their day was just so perfect!

Ole Hanson Beach Club wedding venue

Like I said before, Ole Hanson Beach Club is one of my all-time favorite wedding venues in California. When I found out that’s where Sarah and Skylar were having their wedding, I was so excited!! They went with a neutral, beachy boho theme that complemented the venue so well. As you can see in the photos, the pops of terracotta they incorporated were to die for! You really don’t have to do much in terms of decorating at this venue, as it’s already so beautiful on its own.

Just in case you’re thinking about having your wedding at Ole Hanson Beach Club, let me give you a few details about it! They offer three different spaces for your big day – the Grand Lawn, the Main Room, and West Terrace. They also have an East Terrace that’s totally private, perfect if you want to have some alone time with your love! Sarah and Skylar held their reception on the West Terrace and it was seriously everything. It overlooks the Grand Lawn and the Pacific Ocean, giving you crazy sunset views if you time it right!

In terms of guest count, Ole Hanson Beach Club can hold:

  • 150 people for a seated reception on the West Terrace
  • 200 people for a seated reception using the West Terrace and Main Room
  • 225 people for a cocktail-style reception

If you’re planning a 2023/24 wedding in California, I highly recommend reaching out to them to see if they have your date available! And, of course, booking me as your photographer!

A wedding I’ll never forget!

All throughout this day, I was reminded of how much I love being a California wedding photographer. We started the day off at a cute little hotel right next to Ole Hanson Beach Club where everyone got ready. Once we got to the venue, Sarah and Skylar did a first touch/prayer that had everyone (even me!) shedding a tear! Both of them were so emotional during this part and it was just so so sweet to witness and document for them. They also did prayers with their wedding party that set the intentions for the rest of the day!

For their ceremony, they decided to write their own personal vows. I absolutely loved this part; it’s always a favorite when couples choose to do personal vows! Their ceremony was so full of love and excitement from both them and their guests. After it was over, we went off to take sunset couples photos under the palm trees and of course, they turned out beautiful! Sunset is one of my favorite times to take photos, especially because you really get the golden glow that embodies the California beach vibes. Once we were finished taking photos, it was time for their bistro-lit rooftop dinner with all of their friends and family. The only thing left to do was party the night away!
